Applying on Behalf of Others

How to submit an ETIAS application on behalf of a family member, minor, or elderly relative.

You do not have to be the traveler to complete an ETIAS application. Anyone can apply on behalf of another person — whether that is a parent applying for a child, a family member helping an elderly relative, or a travel agent assisting a client.

Who Can Act as a Representative?

Family Members

A spouse, parent, sibling, or any family member can complete the ETIAS form on behalf of another family member.

Any Adult

Any adult with access to the traveler's passport and personal information can submit the application.

Travel Agencies

Licensed commercial intermediaries such as travel agencies can submit ETIAS applications on behalf of their clients.

What You Need to Have Ready

👮 The Traveler’s Information

  • Full legal name (as in passport)
  • Passport number, expiry date, issuing country
  • Date and place of birth
  • Nationality(ies)
  • Home address and contact details
  • Answers to background questions

👤 Your Information (the Representative)

  • Your full name
  • Your relationship to the applicant
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number
  • Your home address

Applying for Children

All minors traveling to any ETIAS country must have their own valid ETIAS authorisation, regardless of age — there is no age exemption. Children under 18 are exempt from the €20 fee but still require an ETIAS. The application must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian.

When applying for a child, you will need the following in addition to the usual information:

  • The child’s own valid biometric passport
  • The child’s date and place of birth
  • Your full name and relationship (parent/legal guardian)
  • Confirmation that you are authorized to act on the child’s behalf

Your Responsibilities as a Representative

⚠ Legal responsibility: As the person submitting the application on behalf of the traveler, you are legally responsible for ensuring that all information provided is accurate, truthful, and complete.

Submitting false or misleading information on behalf of another person may result in the ETIAS being refused or revoked, and could have legal consequences for the representative.

Always verify all details with the traveler before submitting, and never submit an application without the traveler’s knowledge and consent.
